The first semester of 2016 is underway at Design Institute of San Diego and a new group of stand-out interior design students have been recognized with the Building the Legacy and Academic Achievement Scholarships as well as the Director’s Grant.Continuing student Rachael Woloszyn is awarded the Director's Grant this semester
Continuing students Rachael Woloszyn and Jenna Pena were both awarded the Director’s Grant. Each semester, the DISD awards up to two Director's Grants of $1,500 for a full-time student or $1,000 for a part-time or evening student. Grants are then automatically renewed so long as the recipient remains enrolled in the required number of units and maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.Continuing student Jenna Pena is awarded the Director's Grant this semester
Up to two Academic Achievement Scholarships are awarded by DISD each semester to students who are eligible for financial aid, with $1,500 for a full-time student or $1,000 for a part-time student. Once awarded, the scholarships are automatically renewed as long as the students maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and remain enrolled in the require number of units.New student Breeann Ray is awarded the Academic Achievement Scholarship this semester
Breeann Ray was the sole recipient of the Academic Achievement Scholarship this time around. She was ecstatic when she found out the great news. “It feels great! I'm excited. I wasn't even going to apply because I thought the odds were slim. When I got the email saying I was a recipient, I nearly cried.”New student Katrina Shea is awarded the Building the Legacy Scholarship this semester.
New students Katrina Shea and Kate Davenport were each awarded the Building the Legacy Scholarship. This particular scholarship of $1,500 is rewarded once to up to two DISD students: one to an eligible entering freshman who is a first-time college student, the other to an eligible college transfer student entering Design Institute for the first time.New student Kate Davenport is awarded the Building the Legacy Scholarship this semester
According to Kate, winning the Building the Legacy Scholarship was a thrilling experience. “I am so thankful to receive the scholarship. It truly is just one more sign that I made a good, life-changing decision to go back to school and pursue my dream. Woohoo! Coincidentally, I also was offered a job in the library the same day I received the scholarship. My money worries faded a bit that day, and I am so grateful.”
