Go to http://search.ebscohost.com.
If you are off campus, enter the DISD username and password and click LOGIN. If you have forgotten the username or password, please contact the DISD Library.
If you are on campus, you will be taken directly to the Basic Search Screen.
From any screen in OmniFile, click Sign In:
On the Sign In screen, click Create a new Account:
Fill out the required information to create an account. You do not have to use your DISD email address, username or password. When you are finished, click Save Changes:
On the next screen, click Continue to return to the Basic Search Screen.
Start your search. To save an article from the Results List to your personal folder, click Add to folder under that article:
To save an article from the Detailed Article Page, click Add to folder under Tools:
To see the articles that you have saved, click Folder from any screen in OmniFile:
Once you have a personal account in OmniFile, you can create additional folders to save, organize and share articles. From any screen in OmniFile, click Folder to see the articles saved in your personal folder. To add a new folder, click the New button next to the My Custom folders icon:
Enter a Folder Name (the Notes are optional) and click Save. To move articles to the new folder you just created, select the articles you want to move, click Move to, and click on the name of the folder:
To see the articles in your new folder, click the Articles link under the name of your folder (Healthcare in the example below):
If you want to share an article in OmniFile with someone else, you have several options. From the Detailed Article Page, click Email under Tools to email the article to another person:
Enter the email address of the person you want to share the article with, select whether to include the full text of the article and whether to use a particular citation format, and then click Send.
To share articles saved in your personal folder, click Folder from any screen in OmniFile. To share all the articles saved to your folder, click E-mail:
Enter the email address of the person you want to share the articles with, select whether to include the full text of the article and whether to use a particular citation format, and then click Send.
To share only some of the articles saved to your folder, select the articles you want to share before you click E-mail.
You can also share articles saved in a custom folder that you created. To do this, click Folder from any screen in OmniFile, and then click the Share link under the name of your folder (Healthcare in the example below):
Enter the email address of anyone you want to share the articles with, and then click Invite. This will send an email with a special passcode that will allow the people you invite to view your folder and the articles in that folder.
- Tip: To share an article once, use the E-mail button. If you are working with a group and want everyone in the group to be able to use one folder, use the Share feature for a folder. Sharing a folder means that everyone in the group will be able to add articles to the folder and see the articles other people have added.
